On Sunday (Oct 6th, 2019), Pastor Gaby Salloum preached the last sequel of the message, “Breaking Free”, titled, “A Mind Set Free”.
Are you living victoriously? Or are you living a lie? Many are held down by their mind like a domesticized elephant, who, despite being such a huge and powerful animal, is held by a small stick in the ground to which he is chained. Since this is what he knew from the beginning he believes that he cannot break free. God has given us all authority. The enemy has none. What he has is the power to disarm believers with lies.
2 Timothy 1:7 says that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and of a sound mind. You have the mind of Christ. Is the mind of Christ the master of your mind? What we think in our hearts will control our life (Proverbs 23:7). Our thoughts or mind affect the direction of our life. What we put in our minds is what comes out!
God reveals the things He has freely given to us through His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10-16). We need to identify the thing(s) in our minds that keep us down. If you keep a parrot in a cage for long enough and then open the door for him to come out, he can’t fly anymore. We can escape the prison (stronghold) of our mind (2Cor. 10:4-5). But if you don’t take your thoughts captive and allow them in, they will captivate you.
We need to understand that we are in a war. Fighting, rebuking and casting out cannot remove lies. It is only by deleting them and allowing God’s Word in (Romans 12:2), just like you delete unnecessary stuff from your computer, and also empty the trash can so that your computer does not get clogged.
Without the Word of God, there is no freedom. Freedom begins with the Word. It feeds our soul and transforms us. Only the Word of God (not positive thinking) stays, has the power and pulls down strongholds. Yes, there is war but we walk in victory. We should walk with head up because we know the outcome of the war. If we have the Spirit of God in us we ought to think and talk and walk accordingly.
