Today’s sermon was about Knowing the Holy Spirit. Pastor Gaby reminded the congregation of his previous sermon, where our first call is our call to intimacy with God. This intimacy comes through the Holy Spirit, and it is impossible to go deeper with God without the Holy Spirit. Life in abundance comes through fellowship with the Holy Spirit but to some people, He is insignificant.
The poor widow in 2 Kings 4:2 had only a little jar of oil, but this little oil became her sustenance. 1 Corinthians 2:11 says teaches us God deposited the Holy Spirit in us so that we may know the thoughts of God. The well-known passage in 2 Corinthians.13:14 talks about the fellowship of the Holy Spirit and this fellowship should not be neglected. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, how much more do we!
In John.14:17 God expresses confidence about us knowing Him through the “Spirit of truth” . This holds true for those to whom the Holy Spirit is just head knowledge, as well as for those, who do not know Him yet.In John.14:15-17 Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit before He left; he did not leave us as orphans. The Holy Spirit is a person not an “IT”. He is alive and is called the Paraclete; meaning that He comes alongside us to walk with us. The Holy Spirit will teach us all things (Acts 10:38b) and will produce the gifts of the Spirit in us. Let us begin to walk in the awareness of his presence with us and seek to know him more and more!
