Faith Pt 6 – Jesus The Author And Finisher Of Our Faith

Faith is the language of God and it is the only language He understands. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith who went to the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Faith is the confidence of what we hope for and the evidence of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).

In the days of old, all those who obtained a good testimony died before receiving the promise (Hebrews 11:39-40). Who is the promise? Jesus! For those of us who are in Christ, we are made perfect because of the promise of Jesus. We who have received the promise of Jesus, can live a life of faith that pleases God.

He is the Author and Finisher of our faith – our moral convictions as a child of God (Hebrews 12:2). The word author means a chief leader or a captain. Jesus is the Captain we look up to, to be able to live by faith. He is the Originator or the Cornerstone of our faith. It is God who works in us to will and to do for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). He is the Author of our faith! Our works are as filthy rags and only by Jesus can we live a life that pleases God.

Paul rebuked the Galatian Church for starting in the Spirit and wanting to finish in the flesh (Galatians 3:2-3). We are the army of God and Jesus is our Captain. We must allow Him to lead and direct us. We must trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding with the promise that he will make our path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

As a child of God, you can’t live your life carelessly. We have a Captain who is in charge and He knows how to lead us.

Jesus is not only the Captain or the Author of our faith but also the Finisher. Everything He starts, He will bring it to a fruitful end. Things may not always look right or orderly, but rest assured that it will come to an expected end. Keep your focus on Jesus Christ because He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ask, think or imagine (Ephesians 3:12).

Jesus is the Author and Perfecter of our faith and He will never fail you!!
