We praise God for a new year! We have started of with a great sermon series in line with our theme for this year, “The Year of Abundant Harvest”.
Harvest is not a time of sowing or plowing but of reaping and gathering.
The Word of God is a seed. Memorizing God’s Word alone will not bear fruit. If the Word doesn’t fall into our hearts, go deep and be rooted, there will be no harvest.
Only the seed of God’s Word has the power to bring in the harvest, if only we do not give up on it, no matter what. When we have toiled, dug and done all we can, it’s easy to give up on the seed. But just when you think it’s over, the harvest is at hand.
God doesn’t want us to give up as we have entered this year 2021 because the harvest is at hand! He has gone ahead of us and established it as a year of harvest. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Unless a seed falls to the ground and dies, it will not bring a harvest (John 12:24). Like a pregnant woman who waits until full term, we may be in a waiting season but that is only to ensure that the harvest is healthy. The seed may look dead but it contains life.
Don’t be discouraged, don’t lose heart. God needs your heart for the harvest.
God called the seed food for us and spoke of a harvest (Genesis 1:29). Seed time and harvest shall not cease (Genesis 8:22). The Word of God that goes out will not return to Him void but will accomplish its purpose (Isaiah 55:11).
We must surround ourselves with the right people, like-minded people, people who pray! Get around Godly friends, people who will point you towards the Lord. Better few friends who will help you in your walk with God that many who will lead you astray.
When we go through difficulties and struggles, it is God taking our roots deeper. Matthew 13 talks about the challenges against the seed. The enemy makes every effort to suffocate the seed because without the seed, there is no harvest.
The success of the seed is also dependent on the soil. We must make sure that our hearts are good ground to receive the seed of God’s Word. Many of us are looking back and wanting to give up but if we hold on to the seed of God’s Word, we will see a mighty harvest in our lives.
