Maximising Your Potential

Apostle Israel Onoriobe brought a powerful message about maximising the use of the gifts that God has given you.

Maximise >> make the best use of (increase) something so as to get the best result from it.

Potential/Skill/Ability/Talent >> unrealized ability that is capable of development into future realities. It isn’t studied or learnt, it’s given by God. When we aren’t aware of our potential (hidden talent/unused strength), we are unable to maximise it in order to fulfill our destiny.

God has given us everything we need to succeed. You only fail because of the choices you make and your perception of yourself.

How to maximise your potential:

  1. Know the Source – the greatest development of your potential comes when you are aware of your divine Source – God (Acts 17:28). If we don’t allow God to define who we are, others will tell us who we are.
  2. Know the purpose – We must understand that the potential & gifts God has given us are for a specific purpose that we can only discover through God.

We need each other (& can’t do without each other) in the body of Christ for our gifts to be used for the kingdom purpose (Ephesians 3:2).

Principles from the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30):

  • Everyone has a gift from God in proportion to the ability He has given us. Our goal should be to become like Jesus and not like another person.
  • We must be profitable in the gift God has given us. We must multiply our return as we maximise the gift to its full potential. The Master has a profit mindset and your profit is an indication of your faithfulness.
  • The easiest way to fail in life is to sit and do nothing. To succeed, be willing to do something with what God has given you for He blesses the work of our hands.
  • God requires accountability for the gifts and talents He has given you. You will give an account for your talent and not for others.
  • Don’t despise small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10)
  • Don’t make excuses why you can’t maximise the gifts God has given you. Fear will keep us from maximising our potential. If we don’t use the gifts or potential that God has given us we are wicked and lazy because the gift is not for us, it is for others.

What are you doing with the talents that God has given you? Use what God has given you in His kingdom to fulfil your destiny and receive your reward.
