Communicating God’s Way

God is a God of relationship and without communication there is no relationship. In these days of technology, communication is breaking down and the devil uses this as a tool to destroy various relationships and communication.

Communication can make or break a situation (Proverbs 12:18; Matthew 12:36)!

Godly communication is about transferring thoughts, views and information effectively with the help of God’s Word because it is the only standard; not only in speech but also in other means of by which communication can be made.

The Bible is the user manual filled with the wisdom for effective communication.

Killers of good communication:

  1. Not listening attentively and talking too much (Proverbs 10:19). Also, we must ensure that we always listen to the full story of any situation before passing judgment.
  2. Anger. Avoid keeping negative emotions bottled up. Instead, take your heart to God to be healed from your heart’s burdens (Ephesians 4:31).
  3. Manipulation. Lording authority over others in order to have your own way, or manipulating through words, tears, shutting down, wanting to have the final say, is not the way to communicate as God’s children (Philippians 2:3).

How to communicate God’s way:

  1. Surrender your life to Christ (Colossians 1:3). Don’t depend on your own wisdom, but access to God’s wisdom for communicating effectively depending on the people or the situation we are facing.
  2. Ask God to give us Spirit-filled answers. The tone of our voice also matters in communication (Proverbs 15:1; Galatians 5:15).
  3. Never take what was shared with you in confidence to be used against the person. Vulnerability shouldn’t be abused. Also, speak constructively as you bring correction in our communication is key (Revelation: 2:13).

God affirmed Jesus saying, “this is my Son in whom I’m well pleased”, and He set the best example as a Father. Likewise, parents should communicate with their children with care, love and affirmation so as to build them up not to tear them down.

Our Heavenly Father desires that we communicate in a way that glorifies Him and shows us to be His disciples; the salt of the earth and the light of the world!!
